All boaters in Florida should be aware of the numerous anchoring restrictions being created by various municipalites. These restrictions are making Florida into an unfriendly cruising ground, and possibly creating dangerous situations that force crews into unsafe anchorages or encourage them to press on in spite of poor conditions.
2 Marco Island residents, Dave Dumas and Capt. Lee Oldershaw, anchored Dumas's 42' Kinship within the 300' limit on January 18 and waited for the police to come. They hope to challenge the municple ordinance as violating State Law.
