I love living in Florida, especially since in the dead of winter I can be out on the boat in shorts enjoying a beatiful sailing day. My dad and friend Justin joined my for a really nice daysail.
The winds were a bit fluky most of the day, but generally from the east. We headed south from the Pier to stay out of the way of the optimist regatta from St Pete Yacht club. Eventually we decided to make a spinaker run to the NE. Of course after abou 20 minutes the wind died so we dropped the asymetrical and bobed for a while, enjoying sandwiches and a few beverages. By 2:30 pm however, the wind had clocked to the North and kicked up some whitecaps, so we came in with a partially rolled Genoa.
I decided to play with my new Pentax w20 waterproof camera and take some dorky movies. This was after lunch, the wind had just begun to clock and freshen, but it wasn't blowing up the whitecaps yet. Sorry in advance for the wind noise. The original video seems to play much better the the youtube stream, but hey, its free hosting!
